A New Home for Learning Resources for the National High School Ethics Bowl
As one part of a strategic response to the COVID-19 pandemic during my tenure as Director, the Parr Center for Ethics launched NHSEBAcademy in 2020 (with subsequent updates each year since) as a new online home for learning about and around the National High School Ethics Bowl. NHSEBAcademy offers a wide range of pedagogical resources that support both competition preparation and broader ethical inquiry. At its core is The Library, a one-stop shop for learning materials about the NHSEB program, including quick-start resource kits tailored to each competitive role. The Theater features a growing collection of training and onboarding videos designed for both students and volunteers. In The Studio, Chapel Hill-based volunteers connect with participants on their schedules—individuals, teams, and sometimes entire classes—to provide coaching, feedback, practice matches, and more. And via a new event series, NHSEBAcademy Live, the platform hosts interactive events for students, coaches, volunteers, and organizers across the country. Since its launch, NHSEBAcademy has welcomed thousands of unique visitors, and as many resource downloads and video engagements—evidence of its growing impact in supporting Ethics Bowl learning where it begins: in classrooms and communities.
